This tool gives the minimum fillet weld leg size permitted for a given material thickness t, based on code requirements. It does not calculate the weld size required for applied loads. The final weld size must be designed separately to resist the factored forces.

The design weld size may need to be larger depending on the applied loads and
connection detailing.
